Chris Jay is a photographer, performer, and multimedia artist. Chris began his photography career almost 20 years ago as a portrait photographer at JC Penney Studios. He honed his photography skills working for Lifetouch School Photography. His passion for local entertainment coalesced into the creation of L.A.C.E (Local Arts Culture Entertainment) Magazine and the L.A.C.E Media podcast. While photographing Washington D.C. nightlife, Chris became introduced to the local drag scene and got his drag start with the D.C. Kings. His performance career continued as a co-producer of nationally recognized Chocolate City Burlesque and Cabaret and co-founder of the award-winning drag king troupe, Pretty Boi Drag. As a solo artist, Chris Jay won Best of Gay D.C. Best Artist in 2016, Best Drag King in 2017, and Baltimore King of Pride in 2018. In his current media project, the Coffee with Chris podcast, Chris Jay spotlights local arts and entertainment through commentary on local and national news and events and interviewing queer community leaders and performers.
